The Project: The Gambia Water Wells

Water quality is a significant issue in many small, impoverished countries. One of The Gambia’s objectives is to assist in boring deeper wells. In many cases, hand pumps are used to move water into storage tanks. These communities do not have access to power other than what can be provided by solar panels. They have a few panels, but they are very low-end, non-U.S. panels with reliability issues. We have identified a test project and are facilitating the project as a pioneer for additional in the future.

The Partners

A U.S. based Gambian national sends 8+ container loads of building materials to his family construction business in the Gambia and has volunteered handling the shipment of panels.  The Director, Mr. Ebrima Marong, of our partner Working Water the Gambia has identified the needs, and storage facilities for the equipment with the Director Mr. Mai Tourray at Department of Water Resources, and 12 local contractors to perform the local installations.

The Timeline

The first panels will be shipped to the Maryland Warehouse by the end of May, for shipment abroad in June/July and installation during Q4 in 2025.
