Our Guiding Principles

As a non-profit, our philosophy is to achieve a partnership with the stake holder. We studied what works in watching others and learned that, for our purposes, there is a balance to achieve between straight-donation philanthropy and having a receiving partner contribute to projects. In partnership philanthropy, we are the stewards of the inputs and projects but want the receivers to be engaged and provide as much guidance and resources as possible - an investment from both sides.

Second, more can be achieved through combining talents with the like minded. Organizations and people want to give and create a better life for others and are already doing so. Combining talents with these organizations allows for greater impact, creates better reliability, side steps corruptions risks, takes advantage of existing networks, and supports their mission as well.

Third, we believe in the concept of a multiplier effect. Said another way, we look to see where can we have the greatest impact. In our experience we have seen the most need for basic necessities is outside of the U.S. so we concentrate on those areas. Appreciative of the great diversity of the world, we value all human life with the same high regard.

Fourth, is long term sustainability. The projects should have a lasting impact so we initially focus on strategy rather than tactics, meaning it’s a long term impact horizon. Although we aren’t sure how the world’s energy issues will be solved, we think its important at this point to buy time and allow technology and innovation to continue its march. We believe there will be solutions and our part is to allow the renewable energy solutions we have at this time to benefit as many as possible to cover at least the basic needs. We are in this human journey together.
